NEVER verify your crypto wallet

NEVER verify your crypto wallet

By Keyboardwarrior | Crypto Bulletin | 6 Sep 2021

I joined an airdrop for WagyuSwap from coinmarketcap where they wanted you to join their Telegram channel. While I was there some account posing as the official account of the crypto contacted me on telegram telling me I needed to verify my Metamask wallet. They sent me a link to a site that looked like a open source project that wanted your password login details to "verify" your wallet. I told the scammer my wallet was new and he claimed I needed to have a "transaction" in order to verify it.

WagyuSwap – Medium

In other words, the scammer tried to get me to post my passwords and fill the wallet with something so they could enter my wallet and empty it of its content. The metamask support community confirmed there is no such thing as a wallet verification.

Sadly, there doesnt seem to be any way to contact the dev team of WagyuSwap to warn them that their name is being taken advantage of, something that reflects poorly on them regardless of how innocent their participation might have been.

Please never share your passwords to anyone online.
