Hello world! I would like to start this blog with one short input:
There's a number of fabulous "Blockchain Beginners" articles out there - but in my opinion not many of them clear this topic that I think people should know about when starting in the "crypto world". If they don't know it, they may be subject to misunderstandings - and since this point comes in handy at an early stage when "getting in touch" with "crypto", I think it might be rightful to name this article the "#1 thing to know".
At least I came across it only after digging deeper and also by visiting more than one lectures - and a professor in one of those named this as the most basic thing to know when it comes to blockchain...
The Blockchain technology is actually an agreement protcol - that means, a way how machines can reach an agreement by themselves without human interaction. It depends on the specific blockchain what these agreements are used for - in the case of Bitcoin the agreements are the user's balances how many Bitcoin they possess (more specific: how many Bitcoin each address holds according to the complete transaction history from the beginning on).
The problem of how machines can reach agreements is old - there are also other ways than using a blockchain to achieve this goal. A good place to start may be the Wikipedia article about the Byzantine Agreement protocol: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_Byzantine_agreement
If you do not agree, let me know in the comments! All feedback is welcome.
(As this is my first post, it is short and shall be merely the POC if this platform works for me. More articles with more news value are planned to follow, such as about the Crypto Stamp (physical product) for example...)
Danke
