Austrian Post's CryptoStamp 3.0 announced and due to be released in June!

By schinkenspeck | crypto_austria | 9 Jun 2021

Hi people - it has been quite some time since my last post, the Covid crisis had hit and threw me off course, but I am now back with these news which I'd like to share:

Disclaimer: I am not involved in this project and am not paid by any company to share these news here, they all based solely on information that is already published and I am quoting all my sources. All imagery in this article is taken from screenshots and I own no copyright for these motives.

So it turns out that the Austrian Post will make a new Crypto Stamp, called the Crypto Stamp 3.0 and they will release it soon, says the text from their website:

People who have been following this project will know that this is a real stamp, issued by the Austrian Post (postal service), which can be used for postal services, but it can also be collected and traded on the Ethereum network - at least this was valid for the first two editions.

The first edition made news because the color of the stamp was digital only, as a property of the token and could only be determined after you bought the stamp and there were only a very limited number of red ones = crypto stamps with the color "red", which made them very valuable.
The second edition consisted of 4 different kinds of stamps with different motifs, each batch also having that color property - and in addition, the company made a lottery for golden crypto stamps, which had a real gold bar on them and also won a Guinness world Record for being the most valued stamp. I didn't take part in all this though and preferred to focus on the real properties of these tokens, so don't ask me about the gold bars please.

The third edition will be using the xDAI network. And I openly can tell you that I'm excited about that, because I never have used that before.

Interestingly, I also received an (undisclosed) advertisement paper that contains lots more info about the object in question, at least lots more than on the website:

First of all it discloses the official release date and says that the Crypto Stamp 3.0 is going to be out on the 21st of June 2021.

Furthermore, according to the printout, it seems to me that the third edition will apparently be only one motive (maybe again with multiple colors just as the previous ones?): the whale.

The stamp will have a nominal value of 9,90 EURO and it will have an NFC property to protect it from forgery.

Here is a photo of that printed advertisement that I got this information from:

I have missed the on-chain sale already, but that's no biggie for me, because I live in Austria and may be able to get it from any post office - at least if I am fast on the release day ... which I am going to be, you can bet on that.

I personally believe that these Crypto Stamps are some of the most interesting objects concerning blockchain today, as they combine physical properties with on-chain characteristics and are backed by the Austrian Post, which is a company that has a lot of trust among the community - especially concerning the security of their assets.

So: be sure to snap one up on the 21st if you can.
