Yo, what's going on Binance? CZ, man what's up? First, as I reported for Crowdfund Insider awhile back, there had been reports surfacing that Binanc had been running huge OTC desks where it may have indirectly facilitated money laundering activities. Interestingly, I didn't get any counter reports or claims from Binance attempting to clarify that matter. And now, Malta's regulators say Binance is not even authorized to offer crypto services in the island nation.
Alright...so this is not really a good thing because there's so much confusion with CZ simply dismissing it as "FUD" on Twitter. What will become of Crypto and Blockchain if major companies like Binance can't even get their basic licensing information straight. Even an outlet as large as Coindesk claims it is unsure exactly where Binance's head offices are based.
Meanwhile, to make the story even more weird, a Binance representative said they are aim to "decentralize" their operations so they are not sure where their business or company is actually based, or something along those lines. If Malta is actually a jurisdiction that welcomes Crypto businesses, then why the heck is Binance not even registered over there?
And it's not like Malta doesn't have Crypto and Blockchain laws, it does. Back in 2018, the nation's regulators passed the Virtual Assets Act so now that requires crypto firms to register before offering services. Why can't these companies get their basic stuff in order? So pathetic.
