With the world of crypto moving so quickly I've condensing these stories down into one easily digestible article. Robinhood Agrees $200 Million Deal to Aquire BitStamp
Popular trading platform Robinhood Markets announced today that it is acquiring Bitstamp, the leading UK-based regulated crypto exchange. The cost of the acquisition is around $200 million and the acquisition is Robinhood’s largest deal to date. Bitstamp was established back in 2011 and is a familiar name among crypto investors worldwide. The exchange has a strong presence in Europe and Asia, offering over 85 tradeable assets and features such as staking and lending. VanEck Forecasts Ethereum to Reach $22,000 by 2030
Asset manager VanEck projected the Ethereum (ETH) at $22,000 by 2030, according to a recent report. This represents a 487% increase from current levels, and VanEck bases its forecast on Ethereum’s anticipated generation of $66 billion in “free cashflows.” To read more about this recent report, click here.
BNB Breaks Over $700 and Reaches a New All-Time-High
Binance Coin (BNB) surged past the $700 key level on Wednesday and establishing a new record high of $720 on Thursday. The token gained has over 18% in the last seven days.The market capitalization of BNB has approached $110 billion, putting it ahead of major firms like UBS, Dell, and Starbucks. This has come out of nowhere as BNB lagged behind other cryptos during the 2024 bull run, likely due to Binance’s legal issues. Thai SEC approves its First Bitcoin ETF
The Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand has endorsed One Asset Management as the first firm to launch a spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) in the country. The fund, named ONE Bitcoin ETF Fund of Funds Unhedged and not for Retail Investors (ONE-BTCETFOF-UI), is scheduled for distribution between May 31 and June 6, with an investment risk level of eight. Crypto Startups Secure $777 Million from VC Funds in May
Crypto startups captured $777 million in investments from venture capital funds in May, according to data aggregator DefiLlama. This is a 17% slide from the total amount netted in April, and the second consecutive month of VC capital slowing down. Projects focused on building blockchain infrastructure received $630 million last month, representing 81% of the total amount raised in the period. However, this is $100 million less than the total capital flows directed to this sector in May. To read more, click here.
Linea Faces Criticism Over Block Production Halt
Ethereum layer-2 blockchain Linea has come under scrutiny from the crypto community following its decision to unilaterally stop block production in response to a hack on Velocore, a decentralized exchange (DEX) operating on its network. CoinGecko Confirms Data Breach from Third-Party Email Platform
Independent crypto data aggregator CoinGecko has confirmed that it experienced a data breach on June 5, 2024, through its third-party email platform, GetResponse.The data breach occurred when an attacker compromised a GetResponse employee’s account, allowing them to export 1,916,596 contacts from CoinGecko’s GetResponse account.
