Why the Flotilla saga is a gaslight

Why the Flotilla saga is a gaslight

Recent events around the flotilla of ships that was headed towards Gaza hit the news with shock and horror. Every news channel local and international appear to be up in arms calling out Israel for the dastardly handling of the hostages.

A group of concern activists on ships loaded with medicine and food and headed were towards Gaza. Their aim was twofold. Firstly  they wanted to highlight the plight of Palestinians living under occupation in a devastated part of the world. Secondly to bring much needed food and medication through to those in dire need of assistance.

The activist had every moral  right to bring food and aid  to those in need and under international law they were well within their legal  right to do so.

Israel however saw this differently. In the flotilla reaching Gaza they saw an exposure of their inhumane treatment of Palestinians based on a system of hatred and  apartheid that have unfolded in Palestine under their watch.

So rather than allow the activists their day, Israel approached the flotilla and illegally abducted the activist in international waters.  The flotilla of ships were not in Israeli or Palestinian waters or in any countrie's jurisdicted waters. These civilians came under attack by military forces in international waters and were taken back to Israel, illegally.

In captivity the activist with subject to beatings, to humiliation, forced to listen to the Israeli anthem for hours on end, being made to live face down while being bound, injected, shot, and subjected to violence and sexual abuse. The trueb spirit of Israel's treatment of others was brought out

One of the members of cabinet arrived on the scene together with cameras and showed the world the cruelty that Israel is meting out to these hostages.

It was therefore correct that this exposure given the attention it did in the media, and that violence and inhumanity by Israel was put into sharp focus.

This however it's just a smoke screen. It's  it's a gaslight.

The news agencies especially in the West a fully aware of much greater atrocities that have been committed by the Israeli army, including the shooting children at close range,  bombing residents, bombing food lines, bombing refugee shelters and tents.  The crusade of violence and barbarism has extended beyond Palestine and into Iraq, into Syria, and into Lebanon.

While it is right to expose the violence and humiliation metered out to the flotilla activists, it's a perfect cloud screen to take attention away from the actual issue, which is the inhumane treatment of women and children meeting out and their crimes of war.

Let us not be fooled let us not take our eye of the ball it has always keep focus to ensure that the most vulnerable are protected. It is our role as decent human beings.

Love to all
