Strategy (MSTR), led by Michael Saylor and considered the largest public Bitcoin (BTC) holder in the world, added more BTC to its balance sheet during the price's drop to $112,000 last week.
According to a document filed Monday with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Strategy acquired 3,081 Bitcoin for a total of $356.9 million in the week ending Sunday. The purchase was made at an average price of $115,829 per coin, while Bitcoin started the week around $116,700 and fell to $112,000 on Thursday, according to data from CoinGecko.
With this latest acquisition, the company brought its total holdings to 632,457 BTC, purchased for approximately $46.5 billion at an average price of $73,527 per unit.
Recent purchases and accumulation rate
The new purchase follows two smaller acquisitions in August: 430 BTC announced the previous Monday and 155 BTC the previous week. In total, the firm has purchased 3,666 BTC so far this month, a figure significantly lower than the 31,466 BTC acquired in July. In June, the company had added 17,075 BTC.
The slower pace of accumulation observed over the past three weeks raises expectations about whether Strategy will opt for a significant purchase in the last week of August or prefer to keep acquisitions contained.
Historically, the company has not sought to take advantage of dips to buy, as Saylor has openly expressed his preference for acquiring Bitcoin at higher prices. “I'm going to be buying at the top forever. Bitcoin is the exit strategy,” the co-founder declared in 2024.
Meanwhile, the company's BTC Yield indicator—which measures the percentage change between Bitcoin holdings and diluted shares outstanding—has continued to rise. After reaching its 25% annual target in July 2025, the company reported a 25.4% yield as of last Monday.
In its July update, Strategy raised its BTC yield target for 2025 from 25% to 30%, in addition to increasing its Bitcoin profit target from $15 billion to $20 billion. The 2025 target was originally 15%, but was revised upward in May due to improved performance.
In 2024, Strategy's Bitcoin yield reached 74.3%, while its cumulative BTC profit was 140,538 coins. For 2025, the company has so far reported a profit of 113,524 BTC, according to its official data.
