Bitcoin uses peer-to-peer technology to operate without the need for a central authority or bank; bitcoin transactions are collectively managed by network users. Bitcoin is open source, its design is public, no one owns or controls Bitcoin and anyone can participate. Through its various and unique features, the Bitcoin network allows interesting uses unavailable in previous payment systems.
