Welcome to Coins Comic Corner! The following paragraphs below, are just random thoughts, ideas, and gibberish that I have jotted down about collecting comic books. Thank you in advance for reading/tipping and please... Enjoy!
So many people are into collecting comic books. (Myself included.) In fact, the way I see it... Comics and NFTs have a lot in common. When looking at a targeted group like marvel fans, for example, an extreme collector may pay top dollar for a mint conditioned vintage comic. The same thing goes for NFT fans. I mean if you find the right guy, you can sell him a JPEG of a chimp for BIG BUCK$.
Okay, so back in the day, I used to eat cookies and watch this show called "Comic Book Men", and so last night as I was sitting down to munch on some birthday cake-flavored cookies with Vanilla Hemp Milk, an idea struck me. "Let's watch Comic Book Men!" I thought to myself. So I turned on a random episode on my TV set, and in the show, they had this vintage X-Men comic book and they were actually able to score it for pretty cheap. After opening it up, they had seen that it was autographed by the writer and so they were able to sell it to some lady for $550, but only after rejecting a sale to some skeezer for like $300-$400. That same type of come-up can be seen on the daily with NFTs or comic books alike.

Imagine buying a comic book for the store value of $3.99 and then a few weeks, months, or years later... that same comic book is now worth x5, x10, x200 its value. Plus, with comic books, you have the chance of coming across misprints, autographs, variants, and things like that, to also help drive the book up in value. Now those are things that an NFT may not actually come with. I mean imagine an NFT having an autograph or misprint. That would be kinda stupid since it is only digital haha.
Regardless of misprints, autographs, or first printings, or this, or that... Comic books can be a good thing to hold onto if they are kept in great condition. I mean it really doesn't hurt to sleeve and board them, it can only help protect your books. Shit maybe even buy a box or two for safe storing. If you play your cards right, the books can be flipped for some cash when you are ready to let go of your collection. Or maybe you can hand them down to your children one day? I guess it depends if you are in it for the money or the sentimental value haha?
There is this older fella who owns a comic book store across the street from my house and he and I have talked about this for what felt like hours. Now he doesn't like NFTs or crypto but he loves to collect and resell comics. He explained to me that he had bought tons and tons of comics over the years. He said that he actually preferred comics over action figures or anything like that since comics are easier to resell and store. He was an addicted collector and he still is. But basically, he was able to turn his passion for reading and collecting comics into a business and he makes plenty of money from doing this. Enough revenue to let it be his only job while he supports his wife and kid. By doing this, he is able to make his own hours and be his own boss.
The best part? He sells the newly released comics weekly and gets to read them all for free since he owns the shop, haha. I plan to do something like that in the future, however, I plan to incorporate NFTs into my comic shop business.
Well, that's all for today! Thanks again and see ya next time on Coins Comic Corner!!!
