Artificial Intelligence (AI): A Double-Edged Sword

By Rhyth | Cogito Code | 22 Nov 2023

Technological innovations are led by Artificial Intelligence (AI), giving rise to immense benefits and also fears on its abuse. However, AI has transformed different sectors thereby improving systems of production and making them more effective. Indeed, AI impacts every single aspect of healthcare, from diagnosing diseases and predicting treatments to suggesting films to watch depending on what you’ve watched before.

Nevertheless, the development of AI has led to moral questions as well as to worries about unemployment. The risk of unemployment in some sectors grows as machines evolve and get smarter. Also, autonomous AI systems give rise to issues concerning responsibility and decision making.

The use of AI for conducting vast data analytics in privacy has raised issues of potential surveillance and manipulation of information. Therefore, finding an apt measure that ensures sufficient respect for the individual rights while still promoting innovation presents a challenge.

However, artificial intelligence remains an opportunity to tackle big problems such as climate change, disease diagnosis and natural resources management. It has an excellent processing power that enables it to provide unparalleled solutions and insights on huge global problems.

To conclude. With this in mind, despite the numerous advantages of artificial intelligence, it requires close supervision. Achieving a delicate equilibrium of exploiting its positive side and curtailing its adverse implications could form a better-AI-not-a-shame future.
