By Buster Crabbe | Classic Film Reviews | 24 Mar 2020

Starring: Kent Taylor, Marie Windsor

Director: Harry Spalding (Canada/US)

Genre: Sci Fi, Drama

Availability: YouTube

Watch Quality   D+

Although the YouTube version appears to have been recorded from a cable broadcast, there are strange movements of the picture. At times it pivots side to side or seems to flap as if in a breeze. Still, the viewer cam follow the video and the audio is not bad.

Plot Summary

A landing on Mars fails, and the overworked project leader joins his family at a lavish estate. But strange events follow him, and soon his family begins to experience sightings as well. What does this mean for Earth?

Star Power   F

The actors are neither recognizable nor talented. The only fun of watching them comes from mocking them.

Chill Factor   D-

Most likely this film will be off-putting to your date, between the slow action and the consistency with which the scientist is dismissive of his own family.

Mental Health Check   C

Although it is meant to be suspenseful, the movie does not create much anxiety in the viewer. However, the ending is mildly disturbing.

Overall Grade   D

The film has terrible writing and a confusing plot. It's similar to a creature-feature in structure, but you never even get to see what the creatures look like. You have to be a fan of deep-cut science fiction history to finish this one.
