The YouTube version is mostly clear in audio and video quality, except that the wedding scene early in the movie seems to be missing.

Plot Summary

Joan Prescott (Crawford) is the entitled daughter of a wealthy rancher.  On a whim, she marries a simple-minded cowboy (Brown).  Soon, however, their different lifestyles threaten their relationship.

Star Power   A-

Easily the most enjoyable part of this movie is Joan Crawford's petulant yet adorable performance. Brown is over-the-top in his aww-shucks naivete, yet still manages to be endearing.

Chill Factor   A-

Although sensibilities about marriage and romance have changed a bit in 90 years, your date will be drawn to this unlikely love story.

Mental Health Check   B+

There were a few times that this comedy began to turn tragic, but it always returns to its lighthearted tone.

Overall Grade   B+

I changed my grade several times over the course of the film. There are frustrating elements, but in the end Joan Crawford's memorable performance carries the day.  Watch how she uses body language and facial expressions masterfully in the era of the first movies with sound.
