So Publish0x has introduced a new tipping token and I have to admit I am rather intrigued by it. While tokens like Strata and FARM have been previously tipping tokens to varying levels of success SPOT is unique in that it is part of another tipping token, AMPL, ecosystem. By being part of this system and being part of the ecosystem users of it both on this platform and in the greater crypto space are getting to witness something that is critical to see in the crypto space right now and that is critical development of an ecosystem.

AMPL was the first/anchor crypto that the Ampleforth project rolled out and then in 2021, they released their governance token FORTH. From there we have been able to watch AMPL launch on other chains and really overcome a ton of issues that have sunk other coins like it. The ecosystem continues to do really well resulting in further development and the release of SPOT. 

So what is SPOT? SPOT is a decentralized, inflation resistant store of value fully collateralized by AMPL backed derivatives. Now addmittingly that is a mouthful that to the average person might not make a ton of sense so you can look at it this way. It is a token whose price will float within a range similar to AMPL but does not rebase! AMPL's price range is maintained in large part by this rebasing mechanism which either adds or subtracts from the supply and this removes the ton amount fluxuation. The idea is for this token to serve as a middle point between speculative cryptos and stablecoins like USDC or USDT.

SPOT will be governed by FORTH just like AMPL is and is created by depositing AMPL into the SPOT App. Something that I find really interesting about this token is that it can wind down to zero users and reboot since it is simply a proportional claim of a set of assets! It also is not like some tokens are in that it needs growth in order to survive rather it already has all that it needs! Its set up really sets it apart from the other peer-to-peer payment options because of the designed stability and the options it gives someone. Say I accept SPOT from my friend but would rather move to AMPL to try and increase the value that my friend sent me. By swapping my SPOT for the set amount of AMPL I can execute trades like that or I can just maintain my store of value SPOT.

I also think that since it is not a crypto that will rebase it will garner more attention and possible listings on big centralized exchanges like a Coinbase, Kracken, or Binance. This type of exposure is huge for the Ampleforth ecosystem as it will allow individuals to easily be introduced and begin to participate in it. Admittingly I was pretty skeptical of this ecosystem when I first was introduced to it but you cannot argue that it has worked and has thrieved continuing to expand its product offerings. I cannot wait to see what else is in store for this ecosystem as we go into 2023!
