This evening the Pi Core Team took the next step towards Mainnet launch! They announced via the app that for 12 hours today the Pi Wallet was released to any active Nodes. Over 10,000 Pioneers were able to test the wallet through Node UI! The team only announced this once the enrollment had ended which while disappointing was understanding for the team to do.
Wallets that were created during the enrollment period will continue to see and interact with the wallet. More importantly, they will be able to transact in Test-Pi. Test-Pi holds NO VALUE what allows for something to be transacted on the blockchain to work out bugs and give feedback to the developers. For ow the Pi Wallet will be connected to Pi Testnet (further expanding the Testnet to more and more Pioneers) and Test-Pi will be given out via the Pi Testnet faucet. Again this Pi will have no value and even the Test-Pi given out will periodically reset as part of the testing of the network!
This update was super cool to see I was a little sad I was not running a Node so that I could have taken part. The team is hoping with the data they collect from this they will soon be able to launch a user-friendly scalable wallet that is available to everyone! The next updates about the Wallet will be coming in around Pi Day or March 14th!
