Today I saw on Twitter that Fold had announced its next big update and honestly it is not one that I saw coming. For those of you who do not know I have been a long-time user of the Fold App going back to before it offered a debit card when you would just spin their wheel daily and could purchase gift cards off their platform and receive Bitcoin back. Since then they have come a long way though with offer not one but two different debit cards as well as allowing people to set up a direct deposit to their Fold accounts. 

Unlike a ton of crypto companies during the bull run, Fold did not pivot or change course from what they knew... Bitcoin and Bitcoin rewards for users. Given the market downturn, this has helped them not only survive but continue to build out their platform. This month in particular they launched a month-long referral boost for both sides. Now it is important to highlight that you have to sign up for the free debit card Fold offers but you never even need to do it. In return, you receive 20,000 sats which is a bonus that I do not see other offerings! These are a huge increases in rewards as this is 4 times the amount of sats typically offered by Fold and has continued given a huge market downturn. 

It would not be crazy to think that with an increase in referral rewards like this that Fold would settle down but then this afternoon rolled around. The Fold team has only released the Beta version of it which I was lucky enough to be selected but nonetheless, it is an amazing feature and that is to buy Bitcoin directly through the app! As you can see from the photo below it is extremely transparent. Now it does take 3 days for the Bitcoin you purchased to be able to be withdrawn BUT when you do this is paid for by Fold itself! This means no gas fees and as you can see the price per Bitcoin is transparent as it could be! 

After purchasing Bitcoin for the first time through the app I took part in a survey to answer some questions about my experience and what I would like to see continued, reimplemented, and new ideas that I had for the app. I look forward to seeing how they feel about what I suggested and my answers. Given that the number of us chosen were Beta was pretty small I am hopeful that the team takes what we have to say to heart and not just blow it off!
