Stark Darkness

Why is it that what I had perceived,
Should never have been something to believe?
Now, I'm hunched over at a bench.
Wondering to myself if my dislike of loneliness will ever get quenched.

I'm sitting here at a picnic table.
Wondering who is the real protagonist in reality's fable.

It's sunny here at this park.
There's a few bird chirps but there is no lark.
Of all the pain I've felt, this sure feels stark.
Why is it so bright out?
When ultimately, all I can sense is what remains dark.

I can now see the the stark darkness.
Gave her my heart.
The gal, the monstress.
She took a bite then threw it away.
That was quite monstrous.
So now I am heartless.
