The blue tick has its own importance in Twitter, as it assures its users that the relevant account holder (person or organization) has been verified. However, recent incidents are putting a red mark on it.
Blue Tick Scam
Before the Ethereum merge, suddenly several Twitter handles by the name of Vitalik Buterin appeared, and started luring people with Vitalik sponsored giveaway to celebrate the Merge. Those Handles were arguing people to send Ethereum to their given web address, promising double return. Although this is old Ponzi scam trick, but, the biggest thing this time was that all those handles were verified with blue ticks.
Problem Growing in Twitter
There has been an increase in the fake Twitter profile of celibrities like Elon Musk, and Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao, yet such slyness can be caught, because of no blue tick on those fake accounts. But, fake profiles with Blue tick might escape this..
Fake profiles that have got blue ticks can be identified only by the variation of Twitter handle, but people can still be deceived, cos' blue tick means verified by Twitter.
Thoughts
If Twitter doesn't control in time the process of an account's having the blue tick, then that mark will become a useless dot.
