Start writing on Medium today
The new Medium rules require that for a creator to start making money on the platform, creators must meet three minimum requirements which are:
1 — Publish at least one story (blog article).
2 — The creator needs to have at least 100 followers.
3 — The creator needs to publish at least one story every six months to remain active.
4 — The creator needs to be a resident of an eligible country as listed below.
As well as needing to be at least 18 years of age.
Through the first article as a Medium creator, the user starts to take the first steps to access the partner program. The partner program was the only way that any Medium creator could be rewarded for creating content on the platform. That is, it was not enough to open an account on the platform and start publishing, to get paid, it was necessary to obey some basic criteria as detailed above.
But Now Creators can already start earning money even before they can meet the basic requirements to be approved for the Medium partner program, and this feature has no geographical restriction. That is, while Creators wait for their accounts to reach their first 100 followers, they can earn extra income through tips offered directly to their chosen payment methods.
This is Where Tipping on Medium is Born
1 — Get Paid For Tipping
The Tipping Reward form is the third way to earn money as a creator on Medium. And this is the latest option implemented by the new administration. As a creator on Medium, readers can decide to offer a basic amount of money to say thanks perhaps for the knowledge gained from the article, or even for how engaging the story was for the reader. Then, directly through a payment gateway like Paypal, Stripe, or another payment method, creators directly receive the tips into their preferred accounts. And this option is available for any Medium account, whether for newbies who have not reached the basic requirements for MPP, or for creators who already have large numbers of followers.
2 — Being Sponsored Content
Although it is forbidden to share sponsored content within Medium, namely external referral links to direct readers to external sites that are not within Medium’s control, over the past three years Medium creators have been making fortunes by publishing sponsored content.
How does Sponsored Content on Medium work?
Typically sponsors have contacted creators through notes left on stories they find interesting, or even by email, and decide to pitch their business, and with that proposition, creators settle with sponsors and start writing review stories for projects whatever they are, and paid for that kind of writing service. To the reader’s eye, it looks more like a review at the creator’s discretion, but it is paid content.
These are the two ways to make money as a Medium creator without first being approved by MPP, your career could be about to begin and add up to big bucks as a content creator through this amazing platform that is Medium.
Now that you know, you can start your journey as a blogger, and don’t miss the chance to earn extra income as a creator anymore.
