Tesla's latest hiring spree is all about one product: Optimus, the humanoid robot

By LeftFooted | Cars & tech | 8 Feb 2025

Tesla is looking for 12 people to join the team that will work on Optimus, the humanoid robot unveiled a couple of years ago.

All 12 job postings have to do with Optimus, most are technical positions for engineers and technicians, and all are for the Fremont factory in California.

Musk said that Optimus will become a commercial product, just like a pen or a car or a hat.

He said it'll cost around $30,000, which quite frankly sounds a bit optimistic, and Tesla said Optimus can be used as a personal assistant for menial tasks.

Optimus is showing impressive progress, although it still feels like robots aren't ready for a i, Robot scenario yet.

I'm personally certainly glad about that but that's a different conversation.
