OpenAI wants to make stuff, as in hardware

OpenAI realized that software isn’t enough to win the hearts of the people and it is now working on hardware as well.

Sam Altman’s AI company recently appointed Caitlin Kalinowski, former AR boss at Meta, to lead OpenAI’s hardware division.

What are they going to build? No one knows.

We do know that Kalinowski was the lead engineer that helped Meta develop Orion, a prototype for AR glasses that wants to fix the main problem with AR visors: they look silly.

Presumably OpenAI will create something akin to Meta’s Quest or Apple’s Vision Pro. Or maybe they’ll built glasses that incorporate AI.

We’ll find out in a few months, or years.
