I haven't owned a car in years.
Before moving here, ie before Covid, I used to drive different cars for work but then Covid happened and I moved to a different country.
And now I live right in the centre of a European capital and it makes zero sense to own a car here. I can walk just about anywhere, and if it's too far away I use the bus or call an Uber.
But I'm a car guy. Always have been. And I feel the time is right. Long overdue.
The problem is I'm also fundamentally broke. Not broke broke, but still kinda broke.
But I've had a think.
If you're in the market for a fun car on a reduced budget, the answer is always, always JAPAN.
This is because cheap and cheerful Italian sports cars are s**t (in that they break down all the time), German sports car are either cheap or cheerful - never both - and you can't buy really American cars in Europe.
So Japan it is.
The Toyota GT86 is relatively cheap to buy, relatively inexpensive to run, relatively comfortable, relatively fast, relatively good-looking.
It's not perfect, but it is the perfect car for somebody like me.
Relatively broke.
