New to Crypto Part 1

By CaptainMurika | CaptainMurika'sBlog | 31 Mar 2020

So, I am new to purchasing crypto.  Obviously, new to Publish0x, too.  I was always interested in crypto, but never had the time or money to mine or care about crypto until now.  I bought some recently, and I am more and more interested daily with the potential uses of crypto in society.  So far, I installed Brave on all of my computers and OSes, made an account with Coinbase, participated in Coinbase Earn, deposited some money, moved some BTC and ETH to BlockFi, and began mining Monero (because of the article by Chronopulse here) on minexmr with 2 computers that I have since switched to RagerX mining, mostly because is sounded super cool, and, also, the Linuxes.  I read articles articles on Publish0x and tip.  I guess I write posts here now, too.

One thing that I notice reading many of the posts on Publish0x and is something you see in "closed" communities.  The prime example of this is in politics.  People surround themselves and enjoy the same pastimes as people with similar values, beliefs, and even past experiences.  The problem is that to a climate change activist or to a gun rights advocate, this closed community does not communicate outside the community and provides an unrealistic expectation of society's view on an issue as an aggregate.

First: Picture- so you are not too bored:

BTC pewpewpewpewpew

I will generalize with some of the writing that I have seen thus far on Publish0x.  What follows is what amounts to the quick typical post, pretend CPT is CaptainMurika Token:

"Will CPT be the next Bitcoin and reach $Bazillion?"

Now insert obligatory comments about something obvious that just happened in the crypto market.  Very simple with limited analysis, but lots of opinion.  Something like:

"The market is down in the last day by 1 gazillion percent.  I am now buying all of this CPT the market undervalues so much.  It is the next Bitcoin."

Then, reference a spiffy chart.  Like this one:

WOW!

Follow that up with:

"CaptainMurika (CPT) saw a downward trend for the last 48 hours.  This mirrors the downward trend of Bitcoin on March 13, 2011 at 3:52.93838493493499929393763726 PM.  We therefore conclude that CPT is the new BTC.  I sold all of my crypto, my car, naming rights for my firstborn, 2 cats, and my XBOX One Battlefield 1 Profile to buy enough CPT to ensure that I am a quadzillionaire when CPT becomes the next Bitcoin."

Then ask a rhetorical question:

"Will you be as awesome as I am, or just another sucker who does not jump on the crypto that will be the next Bitcoin?"

Maybe you justify here why all the other promised BTC equivalents failed. Namedropping a famous Asian Bitcoiner or obscure hedgefund manager here helps your case, especially if there name is a funny nickname or simply initials.

Prove it with a spiffy chart like this:

The Black makes this chart way more official

(Chart is dark because that is more official for financial charts)

Complete the article by shamelessly asking for money (extra points for emojis):

"I would appreciate tips below."

Have people subscribe to your blog.

Now opportunities for referral shenanigans, like:

"Please help me (and, you, too!) get $10 Bitcoin by using my coinbase referral link (when you spend $100):"

"Help me get more XLM here (if you get off the waitlist):"

"Help me get more OXT here (if you get off the waitlist):"

"Help me get more EOS here (if you get off the waitlist):"

"Ooo, and check out the Tezos faucet ($0.02 every 48 hours= rich!):"

"Earn interest on crypto at BlockFi and use my referral!"

https://blockfi.com/?ref=2c7797e6

"And, also, download brave:"

https://www.brave.com/

End with a haiku:

cryptocurreny,

wife says it is fake money,

I say, "No! It's real!"

Sources I used:

www.cryptodatadownload.com

I used www.cryptodatadownload.com/data/coinbase to download the data for the pretty chart and used Microsoft Excel 2016 to make the graph. It is black because that makes the graph more official in the financial world, but I already said that.

Will this blog talk about crypto? Maybe. Will I just post pictures of my cats or dogs? Maybe. Will I just write angry posts about things? Maybe.
