Who here received the $FORTH airdrop?
I know I did, and I am enormously grateful for it.
All these weeks spent on research finally paid off and I got my nice share of $FORTH. But even so, I still feel like I don’t have enough of it… isn’t that always the case eh?
However, I know a way to grow my $FORTH holdings without spending a dime. You wanna know how I’m doing it?
I decided to sell all my $FORTH… for $AMPL…
“Say whatttt...”
That’s right, I did. Now hear me out.
By selling my $FORTH for $AMPL I can ride the 3-4% + rebases in the upcoming days… weeks… maybe even months... and make bank while it lasts.
Then, once my $AMPL stack has grown significantly, I’ll just buy back bigger quantities of $FORTH!
Genius isn’t it?
But if you don’t quite follow me yet, don’t worry.
I’m going to break this process down and explain it as simply as I can. By the time you’re done reading, you’ll be rushing to sell your $FORTH and accumulate as much $AMPL as you can!
Why Sell Your $FORTH
For those of you in the know, you may have already caught wind that $AMPL is on the precipice of its next major expansion cycle.
I for one, already know this and remember what it was like to ride $AMPL’s first major expansion wave with crazy high positive rebases.
And let me tell you, it's a ride you’re not going to want to miss.
Last expansion cycle (in mid-2020), $AMPL experienced positive rebases for an entire month and they reached as high as 30% at the peak! It was truly unbelievable and life-changing gains were made.
People who hodled $AMPL prospered during this period as their $AMPL balances increased by 3%, 6%, 10%, 20%, etc., every day. And the ones who managed to sell their holdings while the $AMPL price was still high, made absolute bank.
That’s why you should sell your $FORTH for $AMPL now because we’re on the cusp of the next major $AMPL supply expansion.
Now, before I get into details on this, let me first take a step back and explain to you how $AMPL works.
$AMPL Mechanics (This is Important)
$AMPL is the first rebasing currency with an elastic supply, where the number of $AMPL you own can change each day at 02:00 UTC when the rebase mechanism kicks in. At this time, the Ampleforth protocol automatically and proportionally adjusts the supply of $AMPL across all wallets in response to demand.
When price is high, wallet balances increase. When price is low, wallet balances decrease.
Here’s are 5 things you need to know:
- The Ampleforth protocol seeks a price equilibrium of around $1.03 (the 2019 inflation-adjusted US Dollar).
- $AMPL is non-dilutive, like Bitcoin, meaning your percent ownership of the network remains fixed, whether the supply increases or decreases.
- When the price of $AMPL is high (above equilibrium) the protocol increases the $AMPL supply proportionately across all wallets.
- When the price of $AMPL is low (below equilibrium) the protocol decreases the $AMPL supply proportionately across all wallets.
- Arbitrators take advantage of their newly increased or decreased supply by selling or buying $AMPL, which then brings the price of $AMPL back to its equilibrium price of around $1.03
In a nutshell, this is how Ampleforth effectively restores equilibrium on the demand side once the change in supply goes through, as well as to help the price per $AMPL cycle around $1.00.
However, since $AMPL is a nascent currency (only 2 years old) with a relatively small market cap, the price of $AMPL can sometimes stay above equilibrium for prolonged periods when demand for $AMPL is very strong.
When this happens, the $AMPL supply undergoes a major expansion and $AMPL hodlers make bank.
“But when does this happen?”
This tends to happen when crypto market speculation is high; when coins are pumping left and right; when there’s a lot of confidence in the market.
Sound familiar?
That’s right, we are experiencing these kinds of market conditions right now.
So fasten your seat belts, it’s going to be a wild ride.
Holding $AMPL will make you Bank this Expansion Cycle
The last major expansion cycle in mid-2020 had positive rebases averaging 10-15% per day for an entire month and even netted users up to 30% at the peak.
$AMPL historical rebases (Source)
So, on the 30% rebase day if you had 1000 AMPL tokens, you’d end up with 1300 $AMPLs. Then the next day there was a 15% rebase, bringing the balance of our example to 1495 $AMPL.
When these kinds of positive rebases occur each day over a period of a month, you can imagine just how much your $AMPL balance can grow… it’s compound growth and it’s quite significant.
This is why you need to prepare for the next major supply expansion, and is why I sold my $FORTH for $AMPL.
And guess what? It’s already paying off.
$AMPL rebases last 30 days (Source)
Over the past 30 days, 20 of the $AMPL rebases were positive, 7 were flat, and 2 were negative, meaning hodler’s $AMPL balances are growing, mine included.
For instance, on May 5, 2021, $AMPL hodlers received a 1.95% increase on their balances. So, if you had 100 $AMPL on that date, you would receive 1.95 $AMPL tokens right after the rebase, bringing your balance to the total of 101.95 $AMPL.
Then, the next day, hodlers received a 2.67% increase to net them 2.72 $AMPL, bringing the balance of our example to 104.67 $AMPL. The day after that, hodlers received a 3.46% increase to net them 3.62 $AMPL, bringing their balance to 108.29 $AMPL.
That’s pretty good, am I right?
And things are just getting started…
Check out this chart:
$AMPL historical rebases (top) and $AMPL swaps per day (bottom) — Source
The top chart shows $AMPL historical rebases and the bottom chart shows $AMPL swaps per day, with the pink boxes highlighting the 1st major supply expansion and the green boxes highlighting where we are today.
Notice how insignificant today’s rebases and $AMPL swaps are compared to the 1st major expansion? We haven’t even got started on this next major expansion period, yet I and other $AMPL holders are already seeing our balances steadily grow over the past month.
Can you imagine the gains we’ll see when things actually start heating up?
Oooh baby, I can’t wait.
That said, it’s not too late for you to hop on board and get in on the action too. The 2nd major $AMPL supply expansion is coming and you won’t want to miss out!
Cheers guys ;)
