New York's Newly Notorious Governor (depends who you ask) has been working with lawmakers in the empire state toward putting together a cannabis transition plan that is passable. Cuomo's plan has been submitted a few times anyway, and keeps being found to be lacking necessary changes around the equity and economic empowerment piece, does not include language around record expungement , nor does it allow for home grow.

Critics of Cuomo's plan are quick to point out that the plan does nothing to address the unfair and disproportionate targeting of specific communities. There are multiple reports from numerous parties, accusing the police of unjustly using false claims of smelling the herb, often referred to as marijuana , as justification of gross civil right violations.

New York has been very slow to roll out a legal cannabis plan and have fallen behind the times in regards to having access to the popular taxable product that seems to somehow be recession proof.

Cuomo’s plan was full of bad ideas, like an extra tax on high THC items and was looking to set up  high tax (ation is theft)cannabis shops and is not for allowing for people to grow their own cannabis....ideas which have been wholly rejected by voters, however your Cuomie, a true statist, was able to slip in a provision “support(ing) the creation of an office to regulate adult use recreational cannabis,” which may be a further signal that legislative action is imminent.

Apparently the chamber wants to “continue discussions with the Executive and the Senate to provide for the legalization and regulation of the cultivation, production, sale of cannabis and cannabis products for adult-use, expanding the existing medical cannabis program and address the collateral consequences of the criminalization of cannabis.”

The takeaway here seems to be because the Governor has been in the news for bad behavior like harassment and manslaughter, he is having trouble fighting against home grow and for the police's unjust use of olfactory detection of a naturally occurring plant to violate the constitutional rights of New Yorkers.
