In the previous post we talked about the Helium network which uses "Coolspots" to mine Helium Token (HNT). We also went over the pros and cons of earning HNT 100% free from Emrit or paying outright for a Coolspot.
This week I wanted to introduce two games through which you can earn various cryptocurrencies by playing: Alien Worlds and RollerCoin.
Alien Worlds
Alien Worlds (https://alienworlds.io/?locale=en) is a fairly simple and straightforward way to earn some crypto while sitting at your desk and working or while watching a movie. The objective is to earn Trillium by mining locations on a number of worlds. You can check out more information about the worlds mining pools and staking pools here: http://awstats.io/mining/pools
With that information, we can determine the best planet to start with.
Once you have chosen a planet, it's time to find a desirable location to mine. The less land commission is the better it is for you. Here is one I found recently with 0% commission.
Now that we've found our land it's time to start mining. Before starting that, it's best to set up what tools you will be using. if you are just starting out and have no WAX to spare, you will start with a standard shovel. If you do have some WAX to spare, I suggest heading to https://wallet.wax.io/nfts in order to purchase a drill or some additional shovels. I was only able to afford 2 extra shovels but the added bonus it gives you for mining (bottom right corner 0.5) does make a difference in the amount of TLM you find.
Once you're all set, you can begin to mine and earn Trillium (TLM). After the mining is completed you claim your TLM by completing a reCapta and then have to wait for a cool down in order to start the process again. There is one extremely annoying catch to the game which is that while mining and claiming you can "run out of CPU". When that occurs you have one of two choices, either wait a few hours or you can transfer your TLM into WAX and stake some WAX (typically 1-2 is enough) in order to begin playing again. In my opinion, staking WAX for CPU is a waste of earnings. I chose to wait it out, there are other ways I can earn crypto in the meantime.
Rollercoin
Rollercoin (https://rollercoin.com/?r=knqu09ap) is an entertaining little game where the goal is to mine cryptocurrency. The setup is your avatar in an empty apartment with a computer. As you play short games, you gain more power with which to mine. The four cryptocurrencies you have the option of mining are Etherium, Dogecoin, Bitcoin, and in-game Rollercoin (RLT). Playing games and winning upgrades your PC level with four being the highest level you can earn. With each increase in PC level, your power holding lasts a bit longer than the PC before it, once you achieve a level four PC, your power holdings remain consistent for seven days. An important thing to note is that you must log in once every 24 hours to play a game otherwise your PC will reset to the lowest level and you have to start the process again to up your PC level.
Once you have the hang of it, your first objective should be to earn enough Rollercoin (or another currency and then convert to RLT) in order to purchase your first Rack. You will need a rack if you intend to purchase in-game miners.
In-game miners are necessary if you want to earn crypto at a faster rate. These miners come in a variety of powers. Consider waiting for a holiday or Rollercoins anniversary when they will sometimes have specials on sale. Until then, HODL your earnings.
Lastly, as you play the game you are able to adjust your power, your network power, and track your block rewards. Eventually, once you have a miner you will also be able to track your Electricity and need to recharge it every so often in order to continue running your miners. I can't speak more to that since I don't yet have any miners but I shall prevail and give an update once I do!
