Impressionable Experiences
Childhood Innocence
"In This House"
By: Brandy Seymour
1995
In this house,
Locked tightly,
And arranged neatly,
Are many, many days
and many, many memories.
In the blink of an eye,
It and they,
Will all be left behind.
Upon entrance,
One may hear,
The faint sound of...
Laughter, and cheer.
Children outside singing,
Playing hide n'seak,
Or giggling in the basement.
One may encounter,
The presence of the past,
Those children who,
Occupied it,
In this house,
Where it all occurred.
Richard Simmons, Breakfast,
Morning time fun,
Price is Right,
And mom's great lunches.
Loveboat and popsicles,
Nap-time, but not really,
2:00 treat and 4:00 treat.
Book bags lined up,
Kylea and Kylea Jr.
Great birthday parties,
And holidays,
It all happened here.
Love, and joy,
Laughter, and tears,
Toddler, to school girl,
School girl, to teen,
And finally graduation.
Home is where it is,
There will never be home like this.
One day they'll return,
The children you see,
They belong here,
They will always, belong here.
