Cesc Fabregas developed into a true fan favorite in Arsenal, where he did took over the leadership role when he was just 21 years old. In 2011 - after eight years at "The Gunners" - Fabregas returned to FC Barcelona, where he received his football education.

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has interviewed Fabregas in the Youtube segment The Locker Room, to which the Spaniard revealed why he left Arsenal during his time, although he may have waited a few years to return to Barcelona.

- I always felt that we were competing against the whole world, says Cesc Fabregas according to Football London.

- They were once against your team Manchester United, and sometimes Liverpool or Chelsea. When I talked to people in Chelsea and sometimes to my Spanish friends in Liverpool, people always said the same thing: "We hated playing against you". I said the same thing: "Yes, you hated it, but we always lost!".

- In those important moments, I felt so frustrated because the big teams always won and had an advantage. I was young and very passionate. I was hungry, I wanted to win, I was a competitive person. I would have done anything to win with Arsenal, but I felt it would not happen.

- We had the opportunity to pick up good players, which I think would have made a big difference, but for some reason the club looked the other way. There were many things that frustrated me, so I decided to go back to Barcelona. They were the best team in the world at the time.

- Basically, I think I should have waited two years because I had to wait for Xavi to put the boots on the shelf.

Cesc Fabregas played in FC Barcelona from 2011 to 2014, playing 151 games, scoring 42 goals and delivering 50 assists before switching to Chelsea. The 33-year-old Spaniard has been playing in AS Monaco since January 2019.
