DJ Bogdᛃn vs Britney ᛏ - Wake Up, Kitty (Deep House Original Track 2025) 🎥 🎼

The song lyrics were written for me by Kitty Wu from the Netherlands (more precisely, for us, because Kitty is also a character in the song).

I truly enjoyed this track, so later I’ll create a more clubby dance version in the wareHOUSE style. But first, I decided to make a light version with clear vocals, because in wareHOUSE, part of the vocals might get drowned out by the heavier bass, making them hard to understand. So, the second version will be better to listen to once you know the lyrics.

Golf socks
When I was in high school (1998-2000), Britney Spears probably had a big influence on fashion among girls in Ukraine. Our beauties wore golf socks, just above the knee. Not all of them, but 4-5 of the prettiest girls from each class in our grade — yes. For me, it’s a reminder of my first love, and that’s why it’s a strong trigger. She moved to another city in the middle of the school year, and that’s when our paths diverged.

Let me visually remind you what I mean. Only our girls mostly wore white ones. Some even had a bow above the knee. It looks great not just on schoolgirls.

In the USA, golf socks were also a popular trend at that time, especially in certain youth subcultures, such as the "preppy" style, which combined elements of classic and sporty clothing. Specifically, this style was common among young people attending private schools, where girls often wore golf socks as part of their formal or semi-formal attire.

I also went to a special school, the Alexandria Collegium, where in 10th and 11th grades, we followed the program of the 1st and 2nd years of college. So our girls considered themselves an elite and tried to adopt fashion from American elite schools. It wasn’t that easy for me at that school because I came from a poor family, while our boys were already wearing gold chains the size of a pinky at 16. But still, everyone there was kind of a wunderkind and well-mannered, so the class was friendly. And we, the boys, also had a dress code: trousers-shirt-blazer (but not like a uniform, each bought the blazer they wanted).

In 2005, the trend for golf socks among girls, although starting to decrease, still had a presence in fashion, especially among high school and younger girls, so some of the readers could have worn them in the later grades of school. However, around that time, this trend was already starting to give way to new trends, such as the more relaxed and sporty style. So I’m curious, was it fashionable in your school during those specific years?

You could say that golf socks started to gradually go out of fashion from the early 2000s, and by around 2007, it was pretty much gone. However, their popularity varied depending on cultural and social contexts, as well as the influence of certain subcultures. By 2025, the world has become very segmented by subcultures, and I feel like subcultures now have a greater influence than fashion itself, so golf socks still have their supporters. They are now more popular in Asia, at least judging by TikTok. I noticed that the most videos with girls in golf socks on TikTok are from Chinese and Japanese girls. I regret not having added them to the deep house remix of "Baby One More Time," but I’ll fix that in my Euro House version of the song, which will be ready in January 2025.

So, in the upcoming week, I plan to finish the Euro House remix of "Baby One More Time," now with a great music video, because it’s the issues with the video that have left me with a sense of an unfinished gestalt regarding this song. The song itself brought deep memories to the surface. I vividly and somewhat painfully realized that, after I finish school this May, it will be exactly 25 years, marking the end of an entire era... And Britney Spears in golf socks is one of the markers of that era for me, one of the symbols of the second half of the 1990s. So, in my next music video, there will be a lot of girls wearing similar golf socks.
