Tech giant Sony has unveiled details of Soneium, an ambitious project that aims to redefine the interaction between the Web2 world and the nascent Web3 ecosystem. Presented as a next-generation Ethereum layer-2, Soneium promises to offer a secure and scalable bridge between the two realities, enabling new experiences for developers, creators and end users.

Potential impact
The launch of the Soneium testnet is expected soon, so as to offer developers and creators the opportunity to experiment with the platform and build the first apps. The mainnet is scheduled for 2025, with a date to be defined.
