ethOs is an operating system developed by Fairphone, a growing eco-friendly smartphone company, based on Linux and fully customizable.
What are the pros and cons?
PRO
- Security: decidedly safer and much more up to date with security patches, it also allows you to always check personal information
- Privacy: it is possible to block the sharing of personal data to third parties
- Personalization: there is more freedom to customize the interface and functions to be enabled or disabled
- Fully decentralised
CONS
- Availability: only on Fairphone at the moment
- Apps: there are much fewer apps available.
It can therefore be said that the disadvantages are mainly related to the fact that it is a brand new operating system and perhaps it will take a few years before it is accessible to everyone.
However, it remains a very interesting project to observe in the future.
