MetaMask, the most used crypto wallet in the world with over 20 million active users, could be ready to integrate support for Bitcoin. An implementation which, if confirmed, would represent an important step towards a more interoperable and accessible crypto ecosystem.
The integration of Bitcoin, expected next month, is part of a broader development of MetaMask towards a multi-chain approach. Already in the past, the co-founder of Ethereum and CEO of ConsenSys, Joe Lubin, had expressed his willingness to embrace this vision.

A bridge between ecosystems

The arrival of Bitcoin on MetaMask could have several positive implications:
- Greater interoperability: users will be able to manage Bitcoin and other digital assets within a single wallet, simplifying transactions between different blockchains.
- Expanded use cases: Bitcoin could benefit from new applications and services within the Ethereum ecosystem and vice versa.
- New users: BTC integration could attract new users to MetaMask, interested in easily managing the most famous of cryptocurrencies.

At the moment there are still no official details on the specific features of Bitcoin support on MetaMask. It is not clear, for example, whether all the typical functions of a Bitcoin wallet will be available or whether there will be limitations.
The precise timing for the official announcement has not yet been communicated, but rumors suggest that it could take place by the end of June.
