A May of Recovery for the Crypto Market

After an uncertain April, the cryptocurrency investment market stands at $2 billion. This positive data brings total inflows since the beginning of the year to over $15 billion, a record for 2024.

Bitcoin and Ethereum Drive Growth

As expected, Bitcoin was the dominant asset, with Spot Bitcoin ETFs collecting $130 million in new inflows. Despite this positive data, it is important to note that it was partially offset by a sudden increase in outflows from Grayscale, worth $260 million. Despite this, BlackRock's IBIT remains the most popular issuer, with net inflows of $298 million, clearly leaving the competition behind.

Ethereum has posted positive numbers for the second week in a row, with investors optimistic ahead of the launch of Spot ETH ETFs, scheduled for the coming weeks. Despite the uncertainty about its actual performance on the market, this signal represents a change of direction from the $200 million outflows recorded in previous weeks.

Altcoins on the rise, but with lights and shadows

The altcoin world has benefited from the reflected light of Bitcoin and Ethereum, with some products recording positive weekly inflows, albeit not significant. Solana, for example, has attracted $5 million in new inflows. However, not all altcoins have benefited from this recovery, with some products in fact recording net outflows.

Overall, the picture for the cryptocurrency investment market appears positive. The reversal of the trend in May and the constant inflow of fresh capital indicate a renewed interest from investors in this sector. It remains to be seen whether this trend will continue in the coming months, but the premises seem encouraging.
