The hashrate continues to rise without brakes, putting miners in even greater difficulty given the increase in competitors.
According to Blockchain.com, Bitcoin's hashrate recently reached 447 exahashes per second, while Bitinforcharts reports a higher figure of 481 EH/s, still the highest value ever reached in Bitcoin's history.
In percentage, the increase since the beginning of 2023 is approximately 77% while 170% compared to 2 years ago, all of which translates into greater difficulty in mining blocks on the blockchain.
So, if you are thinking of purchasing mining hardware, it could be a very complicated time, considering the increased difficulty that private miners and miner farms will have in upgrading their hardware to make it more powerful and more expensive.
But what are the positive aspects of the ATH of the Bitcoin hash rate?
- increased network security from attacks on the BTC network
- transactions are processed more efficiently
- is a huge sign of confidence in Bitcoin and may encourage more people to invest in it
As for the price of Bitcoin, the hashrate data certainly does not cause large movements, especially in the short term.
