The Binance exchange announced the launch of Inscriptions Marketplace, a new space within the Binance Web3 Wallet dedicated to BRC-20 tokens.
To fully understand the news, it is necessary to delve deeper into the nature of the BRC-20 tokens.
- Inscriptions and Ordinals: the Bitcoin blockchain has undergone an evolution with the introduction of "inscriptions" and "ordinals". The former allow you to engrave data, such as images or texts, inside satoshi. Ordinals, on the other hand, make these satoshi orderable and fungible, effectively creating a new type of digital asset.
- BRC-20 Token: is an inscribed token, i.e. a token that represents an inscription on the Bitcoin blockchain. These tokens use the BTC-20 standard, similar to the better-known ERC-20 used on the Ethereum blockchain.
Inscriptions Marketplace: new ecosystem for BRC-20 tokens
The new Binance marketplace, therefore, offers an environment dedicated to the discovery, purchase and sale of BRC-20 tokens, with different features:
- search and filter to find tokens based on your criteria
- payments in BNB, Binance's native token
- token exchange: the marketplace offers a decentralized exchange system for the exchange of BRC-20 tokens
- detail view: for each token it is possible to view complete information.
The launch of the marketplace represents a milestone for the Bitcoin ecosystem and opens up new possibilities, such as creating new digital assets, developing dApps and democratizing access to Bitcoin, as BRC-20 tokens offer a more accessible way to interact with the Bitcoin blockchain.
