Altcoins are performing tremendously from the past 2 years after the rise of bitcoin to 20k a coin back in Q1 of 2017. So, I have always trust Altcoins more and more instead of Bitcoin which can not make you rich if the little investment is concerned. Like investing a 100$ or 200$ will not worth it in the bitcoin blockchain, and if it reaches the higher high of 20k a coin then you will only be able to make 4x of your investment. While if you invest in Altcoins then the ROI can be 100x as we have seen in the previous wave of a bullish trend in Q4 of 2016 and Q1 of 2017.

Ripple is on the top with 36,000% of the gain, and all those who invested in Ripple before the rise have become filthy rich by a certain amount. I am not convinced to invest in ripple again. But you have to study each and every other project, even which comes after the bullish trend of 2017, like TRON (TRX).
Ethereum is on no 5th as far as ROI is concerned but it has been the best altcoin outperforming so far, due to which it can compete with Bitcoin in terms of total market cap.
