NFT Collections Began Selling Yesterday, and Some Pieces are Already Sold Out

According to the latest data from CoinMarketCap, roughly $58M flows through the Gemini exchange every day. And while most of the volume originates from bitcoin, Gemini is now officially part of the growing NFT ecosystem.

How deep did Gemini exchange dive? Well, it began with the purchase of the Nifty Gateway marketplace, which opened its doors roughly 24 hours ago. 

Within the gateway, members can buy, sell, and display their NFT collections. So, the gateway acts as an NFT exchange as well as a wallet.

Since I'm somewhat familiar with NFTs and blockchain gaming, I couldn't help but investigate new applications of digitized art.

At this point, you may be wondering what's available as well as the prices they're fetching. Similar to ICOs and IEOs, investors and collectors purchase the first run of a token, hoping to later turn a profit.

Since this isn't any type of financial or investment advice, I'll leave purchase decisions up to you. That said, here's the current state of availability and pricing...

Three collections are now up for grabs, and pricing has a wide range. Let's start on the low end before moving higher.

Cris Cyborg Collection

NFT enthusiasts now include MMA fighters, and Cris Cyborg is the first to create a non-fungible token project. Since Cris has been in the blockchain space for some time, forming a partnership with PIVX in 2018, NFTs of her very own seems natural.

The colorized collection runs $500 per NFT, while black and white sets you back $10. At the time of writing,  6 of 10 "Victorious" NFTs remain. As for the "Ready" artwork, 181 of 250 are still available.

Lyle Owerko's "Boombox" Project

Lyle's a renowned artist and photographer whose artwork has been collected from the likes of Beyoncé, Jay Z, and other big-name musicians. His adoption of NFTs as an artistic outlet signals that the industry is growing and thriving.

Some of these Nifties cross the $1,000 mark, while some are no longer available to collectors.

Here are the current availability stats:

• $20 Brass: 0/100 (sold out)

• $200 Red: 13/25 remain

• $200 Blue: 8/25 remain

• $500 White: 4/10 remain

• $1,000 Chrome: 0/3 (sold out)

• $2,500 Gold: 0/1 remain (sold out)

The brass version sold out within a few hours of release. But if you're a fan of Lyle's work and have $2,500 lying around, the Gold version is ready and waiting.

Michael Kagan's Moon Missions

Cryptocurrencies and the space motif go together like peanut butter and jelly. Personally, I think the crypto astronaut themes are getting stale. This isn't 2017 -- not many coins visit the moon nowadays!

That said, we can't discount captivating artwork, regardless of its connection with moonboys.

These pieces are the most expensive of the Nifties currently for sale and range from $3,000 - $5,000.

The Kagan collection is in limited supply and here are the latest figures:

• $3,000 Apollo (3-part series of 10 each): 29/30 remain

• $5,000 In Memory: 3/3 remain

• $5,000 Aldrin: 2/3 remain

Michael's hand-crafted work, while impressive, seems a bit out of reach for NFT collectors. However, since the sale started only yesterday, it's still very early in the launch sequence. Plus, the overall NFT market is now $8,000 richer.

Game On

Depending on your interest and price range, some offerings are certainly available for now. I'll admit that the $5,000 Aldrin NFT is especially attractive and who knows, maybe it'll blastoff to $10k in the near future.

And as I sit here mostly trapped inside the house courtesy of COVID-19, I've discovered a renewed interest in non-fungible tokens. After all, Grilled Quarantine Salmon tastes so much better with a side of colorful NFTs to feast my eyes on.
