Another Post Whining About RELX

I knew Reed Elsivier. And you, sir, are NO Reed Elsevier.

I don't mean to beat this drum until it has no sound left in it, but, like Tom Brokaw, I felt the topic needed to be raised again.

"Senator, you're no Jack Kennedy" was a remark made during the 1988 United States vice-presidential debate by Democratic vice-presidential candidate Senator Lloyd Bentsen to Republican vice-presidential candidate Senator Dan Quayle in response to Quayle's mentioning the name of John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States. (At around 2:30 here ...)

And in the same fashion, I am still surprised that, four months in, there is still a little life left to the RELX token, but I don't know why.

I began a series on an airdrop for a token known as RELX and associated with the name Reed Elsevier back in February. There are many airdrops, so why did this one catch my attention? Because I know Reed Elsevier. And I know RELX, the name taken by the company I knew. And this group saying they were coming up with "The World's Best Complete USA Dedicated Token" was using the names Reed Elsevier and RELX.

Over the next few months, as post after post here in Publish0X, Read.cash, Twitter, and other social media posts. spoke about the great team, the important accomplishments, the well thought out project plan and otherwise providing paeans to the work, I wondered why no one was doing anything about it. Stolen name, false claims, and yet people were investing and putting their reputations on the line.

I thought that each tell-tale sign would impact the interest:

  • Delisted from CoinGecko
  • Twitter and Facebook accounts brought down (not by me!)
  • Minimal activity on the (still standing) Youtube channel
  • No information on the team or updates to the project plan

But the Telegram channel and the chat continued.

Four months later, having decided it was not worth my mental health to continue to read the Telegram channel, I decide to see if RELX was still around.

According to BscScan, one holder has around 148,000 tokens; 20 or so others (out of 506) have more than 500.

According to Finexbox, people are trying to sell their RELX for .04 each; no one is willing to buy it for anything more than .002 each. At that rate, the big holder can get $300. The few folks with 500 - 2000 can get $1 - $4 for their troubles.

So RELX lives, but the people who spammed about how great it is would have done better with a Coinbase Earn.
