Embassies or consulates in foreign countries are provided diplomatic protection. These compounds are considered foreign soil and the host state will not enter without permission.

Like the consulate, cars, and residences of diplomats comes with this protection. So does the cargoes that come to embassies.

The state of Kerala in India has the UAE consulate. The story broke out when customs opened up baggage addressed to an attache in the consulate and found gold.

The perpetrators were arrested including the former PRO of the consulate, former secretary in consulate, and some others who aided the crime.

The case is now said to have close relationships with the state government, opposition and the accused said in her statement that the consular general was also aware.

The case is currently under investigation and almost all major law enforcement agencies in the country are involved..
