View every decision to purchase goods/services with the knowledge that your net worth will increase or decrease by set amount you spend or save.

For example, I have $10K invested right now. I realize I spend $10K on alcohol every year: bars, buying alcohol, going out, etc.  

If someone asked me, "hey anon, if you could earn a 100% return on your investment portfolio guaranteed this year, would you sacrifice alcohol?
