Since the day DeFi first saw the light four years ago, the field has not ceased to innovate even for a single day. Growing out of humble beginnings with Bitcoin, DeFi has grown out into a full-fledged ecosystem, propagating a new vision of society and economy. Decentralization is the cornerstone of the future financial ecosystem: away from the monopoly of banks, it gained a creative spark which eventually helped DeFi to propagate way beyond the financial sector. NFTs already helped DeFi to firmly establish itself in the world of art, while Metaverse even opened the door into a reality beyond the physical. Quickly picked up by the most vigilant minds in the business world, novelties introduced by DeFi soon discovered their application in insurance, e-commerce and even gaming worlds. That’s how GameFi was born.
By disrupting the traditional gaming industry with the groundbreaking proposition of making gaming paid, GameFi immediately allured the crowds of enthusiasts willing to turn entertainment into a source of additional income. Thus, the space quickly got crowded with new gaming initiatives willing to bring the best of DeFi and gaming worlds to the starving public; among them, Dragon Crypto Gaming (DCG) particularly stood out by the strength of its proposition. Being backed up by a strong belief that playing should be supported by earning, DCG has developed its own Web3-based digital universe, which is constantly topped up with innovative projects. The Legend of Aurum Draconis is a role-playing game not to be ignored, as it is committed to delivering the most immersive entertainment experience that, simultaneously, allows users to increase their capital. While the essence of the game lies in developing your party of Heroes and boosting their capability on the battlefield, DCG also converts their value into unique tradeable tokens – NFTs, and offers digital land ownership. Upon their discretion, gamers are able to trade their NFTs on a decentralized marketplace, which is powered by two strong in-game assets, DCAR and DCAU. Dragon Crypto Argenti, or DCAR, is planned to see the light on July 26 - shortly after the DCG IDO opens for registration via Avalaunch on July 23. Following that, The Legend of Aurum Draconis will carry out the full-fledged game launch in August, thus realizing the untamed potential of the GameFi on the mainstream scale.
Being curious to find out more about the upcoming launch of The Legend of Aurum Draconis game, I reached out to the CEO of Dragon Crypto Gaming for an interview.
Hi, thanks for being here! Could you please tell us about your engagement with Dragon Crypto Gaming up to date?
Hi, I am Sam, founder of Dragon Crypto Gaming. I have been working as a programmer in the software industry for almost twenty years. As a gamer at heart, I was always attracted by the underlying game mechanism. My curiosity led me to start programming games when I was an eight-year-old boy. Today, after two decades, this project and game has given me the opportunity to merge my passion and skill into one.
What were the challenges and hurdles on the way to Dragon Crypto Gaming becoming the top-notch GameFi experience?
The biggest challenges are coming up with solutions to GameFi's flaws and learning from others’ mistakes. We were diligently observing the space and approached tokenomics with lots of care. We have moved beyond highly inflationary tokenomics and poorly designed reward recirculation and designed our systems to work in the best interest of users and token holders. Through it all, we strive to remain humble while fanning the flames of our drive and passion. We go to great lengths to improve on existing GameFi features and tokenomics, making it more conducive to sustainable growth.
Please, tell us a bit more about the members of the team at Dragon Crypto Gaming. What are the shared values that make your team stick together and bring fruitful results?
We all are in a sense crypto natives who delved into DeFi in early 2021 and connected with each other through participation in various DeFi projects. Being tech nerds and gamers, we discovered that we had similar interests and values which helped build a solid understanding among ourselves. This was when I pitched my vision of an RPG game on the blockchain. It instantly clicked with all of the team, and they were more than happy to join the project and work hard on it. Current blockchain games are largely front-ends designed to look like a game with some DeFi functionalities (like token swaps or lending) thrown in, with no real gameplay to speak of. We all agreed that an actual fun game was still missing. We decided to change that with our focus on an actual on-chain game that is fun to play foremost. That’s how the road to Dragon Haven began last June/July.
Keeping in mind the intense competition within the area, what sets Dragon Crypto Gaming out among many others?
Three strengths I would point out are accessibility, sustainability, and entertainment. To play The Legend of Aurum Draconis, players must hold a Dragon Crypto Hero NFT, which will be their in-game character or even a team. In line with Dragon Crypto Gaming’s ethos of making games that are widely accessible, these NFTs are pegged at $100 on initial mint, making them much more affordable than other GameFi / P2E NFTs, which cost thousands of dollars.
One of my favorite parts is our sustainable economy, where in-game spending and the marketplace put game rewards back into the game economy, and a portion will be burnt. After collecting the data, we can determine how to tweak these rates to further improve the game economy.
As mentioned, we’re fully embracing the technological and economic challenges of designing a well-run, GameFi game offering with fun, engaging gameplay and sustainable gokebomics . The game is supposed to be fun and interactive, offering social and competitive characteristics to our community.
From the point of view of innovation, how does Dragon Crypto Gaming help to propagate the new vision of economy – and even society? What must be done to facilitate the transition into a fully decentralized community?
There are many different ways to interact with the economy in our games. What stands out are adjustable rates for burning tokens, revenue earnings, and recirculation of the in-game expenditure back in the reward pool. . We put the interests of our community and token holders first and foremost in all that we do.
Fully decentralized governance in the sense of a DAO voting on critical project decisions may not be suitable for all projects.; our view is rhat we are building this project from the ground up, we know what’s best for it and can make decisions in the long term interest of our community and the project . We actively listen to feedback from the community says and even get them involved in the creation. At its current stage of development, he project has to be taken care of by us – creators. In the future, we may put decisions such as what new game features to include up for a vote by token holders.
Let’s speak about your ongoing game launch. The Legend of Aurum Draconis stores an intriguing proposition of combining the highest form of entertainment supplemented with financial rewards. What helped you to bring this vision to life?
I have been a passionate RPG gamer most of my life. I had the idea for a blockchain game early on, when there were hardly any games with actual gameplay that I enjoyed. So I founded Dragon Crypto Gaming, I combined my passion for RPG games and crypto into one platform with the help of the team. We’ve been chatting and working together for a long time. I am thrilled to have a well-rounded team of professionals with decades of experience in software development, project management, and marketing. We are all passionate gamers and hard workers with the drive to see this game through.
The Legend of Aurum Draconis is an old-school fantasy, Play and Earn RPG. Players are brought into the realm of Dragon Haven to seek their fortune, uncovering long-forgotten secrets and braving unknown dangers as they work their way to slay the golden dragon. It features various enemy encounters and loot drops, detailed character customization and leveling, resource gathering and crafting mechanics, and in-game player-directed marketplace, and much more.
Through combat, crafting, and other in-game activities, your game characters can gain much-needed experience to defeat enemies of increasing difficulty and collect valuable loot.
As part of their combat strategy, players can choose from many powerful weapons, armor, and other equipment and essential items, which are all NFTs on the blockchain.
With the release of the land ownership system, players will be able to acquire land plots that they can design and build on and earn passive incomes.
Speaking about the forthcoming launch of your native token on July 23: what are the use-cases of DCAR within your platform? 8. Being aware of the existence of your second asset, DCAU, would you be able to break down the underlying idea behind the dual token economy?
DCG uses a dual token economy. $DCAR is the currency required to purchase crafting materials and actions, and land plots, and can be staked to earn a share of platform revenues. $DCAU is required to purchase Dragon Crypto Hero NFTs and perform specific essential in-game actions such as healing, resting to recover your turns, and in-game marketplace currency. It doesn’t stop there; $DCAR will, shortly, become the native gas token for the Dragon Crypto Gaming Avalanche subnet, and both $DCAU and $DCAR will play a key role in future game offerings.
For anyone eager to join the community of Dragon Slayers or acquire a DCAR token, which advice would you give?
I recommend they do their due diligence, listen to our AMAs, hop on our Discord server, ask us questions, and discuss with other community members. If they recognize the values, appreciate our vision, think they could support the project long-term, and enjoy our products, they check all the boxes for me.
In the future, what are your planned initiatives? What is your roadmap?
After The Legend of Aurum Draconis launches on the mainnet, we will have multiple initiatives related to player leaderboards as a goal to activate and award competition between the players. As for the community, we will run an ambassador and similar programs to engage the community more. The bug bounty program will still be open for users to report the issues if any persist on the main net.
Some of the major features awaiting the Slayers from the Dragon Haven on the roadmap in this coming year are:
- Land ownership, where players will be able to buy, sell, manage and utilize plots.
- Player vs. Player arena
- Crafing guilds
And much more to come!
