Julien Durix, considered a leading and famous living artist in contemporary art, has announced a limited collection of NFTs titled “Like a Brush” that allows art aficionados to not only tap into the emerging and sought-after digital art market but gives them a chance to own a real-life physical alternative of the virtual art.
The Genesis Collection
“Like a Brush” is a compilation of limited quantity digital art presented as NFTs. The selection is inspired by the original sculpture of a paintbrush by Julien Durix. Available on Ethereum, the unique tokens are linked to 3D images of brushes that reflect the different facets of the various drawings Durix has done over his successful career.
While the move is not unheard of in the industry, as many physical creation artists have ventured into the digital art realm, what differs with Julien is the NFTs' characteristics of connecting back to physical art. Owners of the NFTs will have the option to either hold on to the unique tokens that can rise in value over time, or burn them for an exclusive real-life artwork.
Through this, Julien bridges the two sides of the digital and the physical divide in the art world, allowing collectors to not just have a digital copy, but use it to get their hands on an exclusive real-life one as well.
Like a Brush
A generative variation of the original work by Durix’s “Like a Boss”, this new “Like a Brush” collection creates different types of paintbrushes, while also illustrating the multiple styles and characters from his art universe.
Each NFT owner will have access to a virtual gallery, where they will have the option to create and show off their own NFT-based art and collections. This will not bring in a tight-knit community of artists and art appreciators, but allow members to onboard other artists, both real and digital ones, promoting art by engaging the community.
Community members will also gain access to the real and virtual events, with the events graced by top artists, including Julien Durix and many others. As high-profile events continue to happen which can be attended by community members only, it will drive up the demand of the NFTs and subsequently the physical one, converting the community into an exclusive and elite group.
As a community-led group, the members will become more than just visitors to different events, a community portfolio is also planned by Durix that will consist of funds set aside for different projects and art ideas. The exclusive members will collectively decide on which projects to pursue, creating a wholesome and inclusive art driven by the public.
Tony Parker, considered by many as the top French basketball player, will also be a part of the “Like a Brush” campaign. A total of 111 NFTs partly illustrating him are a part of the collection. Tony Parker's NFTs will be minted randomly during the launch of the collection's minting process and proceeds from his NFT sales are planned to be donated to different charities that Parker supports.
