Legendary investor Warren Buffett is convinced that the best investment is in yourself. When asked what advice he could give to university graduates, he answered resolutely: develop communication skills, writes Inc.com.
"Invest in yourself. The easiest way to become 50% more expensive is to sharpen your communication skills, both written and oral. If you can't communicate, it's like winking at a girl in the dark," Buffett said.
Buffett didn't give that advice by accident. It is based on his personal experience: in his youth Buffett had the greatest fear of public appearances. "I was so afraid that I was vomiting," Buffett said. - I organized my life so that I would never speak to anyone.
To cope with that fear, he took Dale Carnegie's public speaking course. The weekly practice was successful.
Buffett has graduated from two prestigious universities, but the only diploma hanging on the wall in his office today is the Dale Carnegie Certificate in Oratory.
"This is the most important diploma I have ever received," he said.
