You can now only use Toncoin in Telegram

By LeftFooted | bitcoinea | 28 Jan 2025

Social messaging app Telegram has ceased support for all blockchains apart from TON for everything including in-app apps.

This is hardly surprising, in a way, considering TON is the de-facto blockchain and crypto of Telegram.

TON, which stands for The Open Network, was created by Pavel Durov and Nikolai Durov, who developed the app.

Just like with Telegram, the Durov brothers have different roles, with Pavel being the face, so to speak, of the app, and Nikolai the mind, ie the main developer.

In the beginning, TON actually stood for Telegram Open Network.
