We kind of forgot all about it but Pavel Durov, founder of Telegram, was arrested in France a few months ago.
Well, he can now leave France and go back to the UAE.
Back in August 2024, Durov was arrested at Le Bourget airport in Paris.
Prosecutors alleged that he was turning a blind eye to the illegal things that were going on on Telegram.
Prosecutors further claimed that Durov was facing up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $550,000.
Interestingly, Durov received support from the Russian government at the time.
I say that's interesting because Durov, born in Russia but now a citizen of both France and the UAE, left Russia a while back precisely because he wasn't happy with the pressure he was receiving regarding his platform.
