The European Union is a massive bureaucratic apparatus that never truly understood or accepted what it actually is. And what it can do.
The EU describes itself as the government of Europe but that's not what it is, and because it's run by busybodies and bureaucrats who, even with the best will in the world (which they don't have, imho) can't do much, it tends to create a lot of issues where there aren't any, almost always as a by-product of overregulation.
If you use any EEA-based crypto exchanges - and if you're based in the EU it's either that or the highway now - you may have noticed unusual email traffic, you may have been asked to verify your account again and again.
This is because they'll need chapter and verse, and even if you've already provided chapter and verse, they'll want it again.
This is a good moment to remind yourself that the thing people have been saying about "not your keys not crypto" is true.
I've been gradually removing all my crypto from exchanges but I still have some. And a not insignificant chunk of that is now stuck in an app that's asking me to verify again and again.
My account got frozen and unlocked and frozen again twice this morning.
I'm sure the situation will eventually resolve itself, and when it does I'll just empty my account completely and leave it empty, but best to be proactive. If you've got funds in a crypto exchange and you're EEA/EU based, now's the time to do something about it.
