I received my Solana Seeker about a month ago and I've been using it a fair bit. It's a good phone, in my view.
I wouldn't have bought it were it not for the airdrops, though.
When Saga - Solana's first smartphone - was unveiled, people sort of glossed over it, shrugged, and went on with their day.
But in the following weeks and months people began to realise the phone came with airdrops, including Bonk, which made a lot of people a lot of money.
This was in 2023 and then, about a year later, Solana decided to announce a new phone, initially known as 'Saga Chapter Two', before renaming it Seeker.
A lot of people, including myself, bought it sight unseen, which was a good call because it did indeed come with airdrops.
Now, the numbers are in, and they're pretty good.
Solana Mobile shipped Seeker to 50 countries, which is not bad at all.
More than 150,000 units were pre-ordered, which might not sound like a huge number but bear two things in mind.
First, this is a mobile phone made by a crypto firm, which means it's pretty niche and second, pre-orders exceeded those of the Saga.
I'm pretty sure there'll be a third phone, probably about a year or two from now.
And I'll buy that one too.
