Elon Musk's AI company, xAI, just announced a $300 million partnership with Telegram to integrate its chatbot, Grok, into the messaging platform.
The idea is to do more or less what Meta has already done with Instagram and WhatsApp.
Interestingly, the deal is only valid for one year, but it'll probably be renewed soon.
The deal, according to Telegram's co-founder Pavel Durov, includes $300 million in cash and equity for Telegram, plus a 50 percent share of revenue for every xAI subscriber through the app.
If you're wondering why Telegram's TON suddenly jumped, that's the reason.
This is news, but not shocking news, because it's clear that everyone's trying to do the same thing.
If you google stuff now, you'll have Google AI result, then you have Meta doing the same thing with its key apps, WhatsApp and Instagram, and then you've got Perplexity, ChatGPT and so on.
