Coinbase Wallet just rebranded as the Base app, and it now describes itself as a 'superapp', or 'everything app'.
The idea is to incorporate trading, payments, social networking and messaging and so on, all in one app.
In a way, this will allow you to use Base in the same way you're using for example Revolut and PayPal, both of which allow you to shop and send payments, with the social messaging/networking element as a bonus.
The reason why Base rebranded
In the 'West', if you want to call it that, everything apps/superapps are a relatively new concept.
But they're well established in other parts of the globe.
In China, for example, they have WeChat.
In the UAE (and also other countries), they have Careem.
The goal is to keep people in the app but allowing them to do everything in it.
They don't have to sign off from Base to social network.
And they don't have to sign off from their social networks to send payments.
Will it work?
