A closer look at DIMO, kind of like a blockchain but for cars

By LeftFooted | bitcoinea | 24 Oct 2025

DIMO is an open platform designed to connect every car on the planet. The goal is to move a variety of car-related routine actions online, on blockchain.

The DMV, for example.

The idea is also to use AI to check whether your car is 'sick' or needs maintenance, this is because modern cars already kind of work like that.

In the olden days, you'd open the trunk and see what's up.

In modern cars, you connect the car's 'brain' to a computer and the car tells you what's wrong.

Interestingly, DIMO says you can also earn DIMO tokens by connecting the car.

Something alike the NODL and Helium network, but for cars.

There's also a DIMO marketplace, which is a marketplace but only for app that are of interest to car owners.

It sounds exactly like the sort of thing that might need a lot of work, but the idea behind it isn't too bad.
