Greetings readers,
I've recently found out about the Doctor Who Worlds Apart future card game that will sit on the blockchain (similar to Splinterlands). The game is not yet launched so you cannot play it, not even in Alpha. There is some very limited footage (doubt it is even in-game footage at this point) as to how the game board would look like. The cards seem fully based on the whole Doctor Who universe and not a random spin off. The game even has the backing of the BBC, who owns the franchise, which is always a good sign.
You can check out the webpage here - no affiliate link, no worries. My first impression is that the webpage is a tad bit kitschy, but I've seen worse.
What can you do there?
- They have a founders' token that can be purchased - limited number available; current price 250 USD.
- They have different types of card packs you can buy.
The token and the cards sit on the blockchain and are ERC 721 Ethereum NFTs. These would be tradeable in secondary markets in the future.
The game is expected to launch in q4 2021 so a long way away. They are however looking to release the market in q1 2021. That seems like an odd focus making me think that they are seeking to fund the game as they go through the main and secondary market.
What do you think about this game? Are you excited to collect the cards and play? Let me know in the comments below.
Take care,
Alex
